For as those of you familiar at
at [sic] all with the forms of trials at
law are aware, it is usual when
a leading witness on either side
has been firmly and persistently
contradicted upon it all & with
apparent honesty, to recall him
and ask him if after hearing all
that has been said, he still ad-
heres to his testimony, or wishes
at all to change it - I feel to-night
as if so recalled by the great
