A few of our ladies bred to a more
fastidious taste bought their best
bonnets at Mrs. Osborn's in N[orthampton]
sometimes venturing as high a price as
six dollars enamoured of the foreign touch
These were carefully packed in the
large really huge band boxes of those days - of high
colored paper ornamented with most
daring tropical scenes and exagger-
ated flowers unknown to any botany
These were carefully committed to the
incessant? care of Brown the always
driver of the daily four horse stage
coach between A & N. Leaving quite
early in the morning and bringing up
with cracking whip in front of the
PO promptly at 5 P.M. He delivered
these boxes with a positively tender touch
unrewarded by the scenes behind closed
