Emily's mentioning of Sue's name on pages one and four is left intact, perhaps because they refer to instances of Sue's being disappointed by Austin. Yet Sue's name has been erased throughout on pages seven and eight, indicated in the transcription by brackets. The mutilator started to erased "dear" before "sister Vinnie" and then stopped. This suggests that all of the erasures are indeed intended to remove positive references to Susan Gilbert (Huntington Dickinson).
